In Memorial

Irene Helen Kowalewski, 94 went home to her heavenly father on June 4, after a long illness. She was born on September 30, 1919 in Chicago, but was raised in her native Poland until age 18 when she traveled back to the USA and settled in her birth place Chicago. In the mid 40’s, she met Ted (deceased) married and moved to Phoenix where she would live the rest of her life. They opened their own business Pulaski Sausage Co. and later Irene worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital for many years. She was a great cook making complicated polish delicacies. Irene loved to sing and had a lovely soprano voice. She sang many solos in her Paderewski choir that performed at Grady Gammage, Encanto Park and various churches in Phoenix. Irene was very hard- working, courageous throughout life, gentle and kind- hearted. She is greatly missed. Survivors include two daughters Kris and Dianne.
