Joyce Elaine Schroeder, 81, of Scottsdale, passed away November 28, 2012 with her 3 sons at her side. Born Joyce Elaine Armistead January 2, 1931 in Fort Stockton, Texas, to Mabin and Georgeanne Armistead, Joyce was the middle child among 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Following Jim’s passing in 1968, Joyce worked as a travel agent in Matteson, Illinois. It was there she met John Schroeder, an industrialist, whom she married in 1974. After John’s retirement, they moved from Chicago and settled in the Phoenix area in 1978. Their shared interests in golf, art and travel provided a wonderful life. John passed away in 2010, at 98, in Scottsdale. Joyce is survived by her sons David (Phoenix), Kermit (Dallas), and James Michael “Mike” (Chicago) and their wives. Her 6 grandchildren, Cody, Nathan, Tyler, Jim, Allyssa and Meridith, all grown, have all shared very special times with their “Gran”.
