In Memorial

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and great-aunt was called home by the Lord on Friday, September 14, 2012.   Her memorial service will be held in the Paradise Sunset Chapel, October 6, at noon.  The address is 3934 E. Indian School Rd, Phoenix, 85018. Memorials, in honor of Phyllis, may be made to Mountain View Christian Church, 2927 E. Campbell Ave, Phoenix, 85016.  She was born on August 7, 1921 in Soudan, Minnesota to Walter Wellander and Esther Danielson Wellander.  After graduating high school, she attended business school in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  At the age of 25 she relocated, beginning her secretarial career, first in Canada and then Alaska.  Eventually, her work took her to the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Armaco) where she met her future husband, Harold Luther Minor.  They were married on April 19, 1951 in Beirut, Lebanon and had three children while in Arabia.   After living there for 10 years, the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she resided until her death.  Phyllis and Harold were married for 35 years, until his death in 1986.  They loved traveling, seeing the world together and sharing their travels with loved ones and friends.  Phyllis was a stay at home mom, applying her secretarial skills to her husband’s businesses and to her church, as a part-time secretary.  In her retirement, she volunteered for church outreach programs while being active with her young nephews, grandchildren and great-grand child.  She loved the Lord and her family very much and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  May we always feel her close to us. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to her caregivers, Irene and George Lopez, for their loving care of our mom.  She is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey Alan Minor (wife, Lynn) and Clifton Harold Minor, along with her daughter, Karen Leah Minor Perry (husband, Ken), and by her grandchildren, Michael Jay Minor (wife, Brandi), Brandon Labbe Minor and Micah Isaac Minor, Allison Michele Perry and Steven Jared Perry, her great grandson, Ty Jay Minor, numerous nieces and nephews, and her very dear friend, Ruby Lee.
